Sealants

Brushing and flossing well is an important part of maintaining great oral health, but sometimes even the best care cannot remove all of the food particles that get into the hard to reach areas of your mouth. Dental sealant is a helpful way to protect and shield your teeth enamel from decay – especially on the back teeth area. Sealant is a thin plastic coating that is painted onto the surfaces of the teeth and is oftentimes applied on the premolars and molars of children and teenagers.

How does it work?

Applying sealant is painless and quick. The teeth to be sealed are cleaned well, then dried and an acid solution that helps the sealant bond to the teeth. The teeth are rinsed and dried and the sealant is painted directly onto the surface of the tooth. Once the sealant is hardened, it can keep teeth protected for up to 10 years, but at each dental check-up, they should be examined to make sure there is no significant wear or chipping.
